Biography: Pru Allington-Smith has been a Consultant Psychiatrist for children and adolescents with an intellectual disability since 1998 working for Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust. Dual trained in Learning Disability and Child Psychiatry in the West Midlands. Pru works in the Adolescent LD Inpatient Unit at Brooklands Hospital and in Community Child LD in Coventry. She currently sits on the Child Psychiatry Faculty Executive and is co-opted onto the Intellectual Disability Faculty. Pru co-authored the College report on “Psychiatric Services for children with an intellectual disability.” She is passionate about the need for UK wide availability of psychiatric services for this group of patients.
Summary of presentation: Dr Allington-Smith will update on national developments relating to learning disability focussed Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), including some implications for applied research.
